K-3rd Printable Comprehension Construction

4th-5th Grade Printable Comprehension Construction

Digital Comprehension Construction toolkits provide your elementary students with simple, hands-on applications of key comprehension skills. These digital lessons in both Google Slides and Seesaw formats are ideal for small group guided reading (either in person or virtually) as students digitally build and discuss components of the text as a group. The routines appeal to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners because students are provided a visual, yet concrete way to “build” each piece of the text as they comprehend and explain it. They can further demonstrate their understanding by writing, typing, or drawing on the digital graphic organizers for each skill.

Suggested Routines for Digital Comprehension Construction:

1) Students read text independently or with teacher guidance.

2) Teacher introduces comprehension skill.

3) Teacher models and explains how to “build” the comprehension skill with the digital manipulatives.

4) Students digital build their structure while sharing and explaining text details with the group.

5) Students complete written graphic organizer either independently or with teacher guidance. Younger students may draw instead of write.
