STEM Bins® and STEAM Bins are an ideal hands-on solution for early finishers, morning work, centers, fine motor practice, indoor recess, teambuilding, calm down centers, Makerspaces, or positive reinforcement of behavior. They are also a creative and developmentally appropriate form of engineering for elementary students.

Listed materials for each STEM Bin are found in most elementary classrooms or can be borrowed from other teachers, and you may choose which materials that you feel are best for your learning environment. Additional STEM engineering tools and photos can be added to the EDITABLE STEM Bin Covers in the separate file. Inexpensive building materials for STEM Bins can be found at Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target party section, or Target Dollar Spot.

The management of your STEM Bins is completely up to you, as they can be used during multiple times of your day. “Challenge Yourself” cards are provided to take structures to the next level, allowing students to improve and enhance their structures. Upper grade supplements are also provided to allow for more challenging options

The provided blueprint recording sheets, flipbooks, and writing templates are optional and can be either copied for each student or placed in page protectors for students to draw creations with a dry erase marker. Writing Prompt cards are also provided to allow for literacy extensions.

    I love these so much!! I am going to put them in my Fast Finishers baskets for my Kindergartners. I love that these are open ended and that they utilize everyday items that are already found in my classroom. I have been looking for fast finisher items for my Kinders that are easy for me to prep and manage, as well as relatively easy for them to complete and clean up independently.     This product found me at just the right time. I was looking for something that I could use with morning work instead of doing something that was a worksheet. These STEM bins will be perfect. I was able to find most of the materials not in my classroom already at the Dollar Tree or Target Dollar Spot. The pencil boxes work perfectly to store the supplies too.     Wow! This was just what I needed for my early finisher Firsties! I love that there’s writing integration. I imagine that even my reluctant writers will want to draw and write about their creation. I am thinking of letting the children take a photo of their creations if they don’t have time to draw and write about it. We use them for various things- indoor recess, science, math, etc. Sometimes I give them on of the challenges to build with and other times we do a free-build!     These are great! I would put the task card pictures in the bins and let my students go. This is also perfect for my students that need a little more inspiration when they get stuck.
